Until further notice

I’m making this private. Just for now. It was pointed out to me that sharing the raws might get me in trouble, and then with mangahelpers taking down their stuff, I’m really considering not doing that anymore either. I still want to translate (and I even had a chapter of a manga called Ookami Heika no Hanayome nearly ready), so I need to figure out something that doesn’t infringe any copyright laws, but that also isn’t just some boring translation with no pictures.

Have a nice summer!

Here’s the thing…

I travel a lot. Or well, it sort of depends on how you define travel. Is it like commuting? Or more like visiting different places and taking pictures and doing the whole touristy thing? Well, I don’t know, but I do change my location quite often. Every 2-3 months or so; and when people ask me where my home is, it’s very hard to give a straight answer. Is it the place I was born, the place where I went to school, the place where my grandmother and my pets are, the place where my friends are, or is it the place where my university and my new friends are? Where I’ll eventually get a job? Maybe. I don’t have answers for any of these questions. What I have is 3 different currencies and 3 different phone numbers. I’ll soon also have 3 bank accounts in my name (well, they’re mostly empty ones, but still). So it’s hard to say “Yeah, see your life is here now. You belong here.” Because embarrassingly enough, the only thing that holds most of my relationships with people together nowadays is not a place, but Facebook. Even more so than MSN or YIM or Skype. But I guess that’s true for a lot of people living in the 21st century?

Now to go past that mopey intro and get to the point. Seeing as how I travel frequently, I always have interesting stories from my flights. I’m not a friend to the airports and they are definitely not mine either. I don’t enjoy being there. I don’t like flying at all, so I definitely don’t want to recall my time there. But recently, all kinds of weird things have started happening. For example, once last winter, they couldn’t get my luggage out because the plane doors were frozen shut, so they brought it over the next day. My laptop was in there! (I was afraid for a while, I’ll be honest!). The next time, the plane broke as we were supposed to board it, and I had to wait over 3 hours in the airport. Last time…a volcano erupted. (I’ll stop there, because everyone knows about Iceland, and I won’t bitch about it. The whole volcano thing still amuses me to no end.) Then yesterday, we had to wait an hour for the luggage, cause apparently the plane ‘parked too far’ and it took a while to bring them out. (I think they lacked manpower to be honest, but whatever).

I remember all these things fondly now, even though I was pissed off at the time, because I think my memories wouldn’t be as interesting without them. I also try not to think ”what next!?’ because that’s a self-fulfilling prophecy right there, but sometimes, I seriously do wonder what my next flight is going to be like.

Up next: more Himegimi summaries. Sorry for the hold-up.

p.s. something my friend got me addicted to recently:

Recently I got into watching anime again.

Not that anyone cares, but I took a long break from both manga and anime for almost two years. I thought at that time that my Japanese skills would deteriorate (which they did), but it wasn’t to the extent that I didn’t understand anything anymore. The reason why I’m stressing this all the time is because I feel guilty putting up these translations/summaries, when I know a lot of what I write might not be 100% accurate. But it’s fun for me, and it’s good practice. As always, my search for knowledge is a very selfish pursuit.
Anyway, like I was saying, it all started a while ago, when I was taking a break from physics. Mostly because I got so frustrated that it wouldn’t lead anywhere. I mean, just because I like physics, it doesn’t mean I’ll be the next Einstein. Plus, it does get irritating to be average at something you love, but rather good at something you dislike (I won’t describe this in detail). The middle ground to that is Japanese, though, because I’m still far away from being good at it, so it still poses a challenge, but I’m not bad enough at it that I’d be completely useless.

I can’t remember now what was the first anime that brought me “back”, (it might have been when I was re-watching Sailor Moon and then my friend recommended Hetalia and I went over my net-cap back in January), but the first complete anime I watched recently apart from Toshokan Sensou (check out my other post) is Hakushaku to Yousei (pictured). That is, The Earl and the Fairy. For more information you can go here. There’s a manga and a 12-episode anime out, but it’s based on a light novel that has now reached volume 19 or something. It’s kind of weird, because I noticed recently that a lot of the manga I like is actually based on light novels (Saiunkoku Monogatari, Toshokan Sensou, Hakushaku to Yousei, Kamisama Game, Ghost Hunt, Shinrei Tantei Yakumo) or otome games (Kiniro no Corda, Angelique, Harukanaru Toki no Naka de, etc). I suppose this is mostly because the art is great, and I looooove great art.

I also watched 16 or 17 episodes of Bokurano last month when I was home. Mostly cause my friend got me addicted to the theme song, but in the end it was too depressing and I just gave up.

Catchy, right?

Then the other day I ended up watching the Angelique OVAs and trying to re-strain myself to read the manga translation until volume 1o. Cause luckily Marfisa translated the manga ! Only, the raws are really hard to find, and dunno….just reading the translation is annoying. But the OVAs are so confusing if you don’t watch them carefully too  XD There are 4 of them, but only the 4th one is chronologically accurate to the manga, so you need to start with that one. Which can be a bit of a headache. This pictured here is actually from one of the spin-offs, but the guys are the same. The story revolves around a young girl becoming the queen of the universe with the help of her devoted, element-wielding male harem.

Now I’m just looking forward to the Shinrei Tantei Yakumo anime coming out in the Fall of this year, see here, cause Yakumo is soooo cool! He sees ghosts! And he’s pretty!! And there’s a movie which I’ve yet to see actually (oooh!).

Also, Otome Youkai Zakuro, which will be out sometime this year too ❤ (p.s. there’s a manga).

Well, that’s it for today’s rant. I’ll try to have another few pages translated for Wednesday.

Still addicted >.<
